AHOEC Gold Standard – Major Awards for Lendrick Muir

Major Awards for Lendrick Muir

We are delighted to share that Lendrick Muir has just received three major awards. This is an encouraging recognition of the high standards of provision being achieved at the Centre.  In fact, Lendrick Muir is the first outdoor centre (and only the second organisation) in Scotland. In order to be awarded the prestigious AHOEC Gold Standard it requires holders to “reach an ‘Excellent’ standard of provision before they can be awarded.”

Gold Standard

This award is a wide ranging one which encompasses “not just safety but also the best quality of provision.” With any provider displaying the Gold Standard logo you can be assured of both “safety and quality in their outdoor experience.”  The award is issued by the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres (AHOEC).

Adventuremark

This award is a safety scheme which is wider in scope than the statutory Adventure Activities Licence (which Lendrick Muir has held for many years).  Adventuremark “allows providers to demonstrate to their customers or users that the provider’s arrangements for managing the potential risks of adventure activities have been inspected and found to meet the necessary standards of good practice in the adventure activity industry.”

Quality Badge

The third award we have received is “the nationally recognised indicator of good quality educational provision” and is issued by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.  “The  LOtC Quality Badge provides for the first time a national award combining the essential elements of provision – learning and safety – into ONE easily recognisable and trusted accreditation scheme for ALL types of learning outside the classroom provider throughout the UK.”

As a team we are really delighted to receive these three awards. We see it as a great recognition of the quality of provision we give groups week in and week out at the centre.  We want to serve the young people who visit the centre to the highest possible standard believing these three awards serve as useful recognition that we have been doing that.
