17 March 2023A year at Lendrick Muir

It’s fair to say that there’s no such thing as a normal year at Lendrick Muir. Things are always changing at a busy Outdoor Activity Centre. But there are a great many events that we can always look forward to as we jump into the new year. Read on to find out some of what’s in store for 2023!
January
Our weekend groups return almost as soon as the year gets going and 2023 looks set to be a busy year. AVAILABILITY of the Centre as a whole is down to just a few available dates so don’t leave it too long if you’d love to bring a large group to Lendrick Muir this year. Some smaller, individual units are still available.
Over the year we’re set to welcome 23 different SU HOLIDAYS weekends – that’s not even including VOICE events, the GO CONFERENCE or ComMission! Maybe this is the year that you volunteer to be part of a team and join kids from all over Scotland on a residential?
The biggest event for us in January is the Event Leaders Conference where we welcome the Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders who will be running SU HOLIDAYS and MISSIONS all over Scotland throughout the year.
Our mid weeks are a little quieter in January so it’s a great time for our team to complete training and spend some time together at our Staff Retreat. Our team will enjoy a couple of days away from their normal roles, relaxing, worshiping and having fun together. This year it coincides with the SU Scotland DAY OF PRAYER where the entire organisation, along with our supporters, spend time in prayer for the year ahead.
February
The SCHOOL RESIDENTIAL season kicks of this month and runs right through to November! We’re looking forward to welcoming around 40 different school in 2023.
In preparation for 2023 SU Holidays and Missions we’ll be hosting First Aid and Archery Training events in February. The SU Scotland Volunteers department also organises Minibus (MIDAS) training and Food Hygiene and Catering Training so that our volunteers are kept current with their qualifications. Are your certificates up to date?
March
Lots of big weekend groups with us in March , including the UCCF Forum Scotland, and the Free Church Youth Conference.
The MAGNITUDE team will be preparing for this years festival at their training event and we’ll be hosting more Archery training for our volunteers.
April
Over the 2 weeks of the Easter school break we’ll be welcoming 7 different SU Holidays to Lendrick Muir. Lots of fun, food, fellowship and exploring the Bible to look forward to!
The rest of April isn’t any quieter with full weekends and 5 different school groups!
May
The Voice Project, in conjunction with SU Holidays, runs 4 residential events throughout this year. This month we’ll welcome the weekend for P5-S6.
By this point in the year we will be well into the School Residential season, welcoming 1, 2, or even 3 school groups during the week!
June
Another busy month with school residentials and weekend groups. Many Fridays you’ll find us clearing up after over 100 guests to then get prepared for the next 100+ arriving a matter of hours later. It’s the same on a Monday. If you’d like to VOLUNTEER with us and help with this essential work, please get in touch.
A group of new recruits from Peter Vardy and the Giving Back programme will be back with us this month. They have been volunteering with us for the past couple of years, ripping out rhododendrons, planting trees and creating a wildflower meadow. Are you part of a company that’s keen to do more community projects? Speak to us about how you can contribute to the running of Lendrick Muir.
July and August
The Summer school holidays have arrived! A year at Lendrick Muir wouldn’t be complete without camps! 6 weeks of busyness, with 13 SU Holidays events, including Magnitude. Magnitude (22-26 July) is a 5 day youth festival full of inspiring teaching and seminars, activities, camping under the stars, live worship and pop-up cafes.
The Big Celebration takes place at the end of the summer season (19th August). It’s a chance for all SU Staff, Volunteers and supporters to come together and give thanks for the year so far and the 1000s of children and young people who have had the opportunity to explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus at an SU event. Keep an eye on the SU Scotland website for details on how to book into this year’s celebration.
September
Lots of church groups with us this month and the SU National Ministries team will be meeting at Lendrick Muir too. Do you know who the Regional Worker or the Associate Trust is that covers your area? Find out here.
October
The Go Conference takes place this month. Go Conference is SU Scotland’s national youth conference. Over 100 pupils will gather to grow in their relationship with God and understand how the Bible shapes all areas of life… home, school and church. This annual four-day event is for S4-S6 pupils from 13th-16th October.
And no sooner than we’ve waved goodbye to the youth conference, we’ll be turning the house around in readiness to welcome a full house for the Assemblies of God Kid’s camp!
November
Things slow down just a little in the winter though we’ll still be welcoming groups every weekend. This month our team will be involved in training programmes while we don’t have mid-week guests in. At the end of the month we’ll be hosting our annual Staff Conference when the entire SU Scotland team is invited to meet together at Lendrick Muir.
December
We’ll welcome the last of the years weekend groups at the beginning of the month before our staff take some time off for a well-earned rest! The Joyfully Made Women’s Creative retreat is expected back again this December. A time to celebrate Christmas with some crafts, delicious food and great company. Keep an eye on our social media channels for information about the 2023 event.
And just like that, the year is done!
By the end of 2022, we’d welcomed over 8000 people to Lendrick Muir, and that’s not including the Magnitude festival! We can’t wait to share God’s love with thousands more in 2023.
We’re praying that this year will also see the construction of our new indoor climbing wall. We’d also love to expand the team with new team members and volunteers.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope we’ll see you around Lendrick Muir in 2023!
