Why run just one half marathon when you can run three!

Sarah's going the distance

Running isn't easy for Sarah but she has signed up to 3 half marathons (so far!) in 2024.

After hearing from Tim Raynes, SUS's Ministry at the Margins Lead, speak of the 1 in 4 Scottish young people living in relative poverty, Sarah decided to use the half marathons to raise funds to help families unable to afford an SU Holiday.

Sarah's Story

Head and shoulders photo of a smiling women with short hair, 2 small hooped earrings in each ear and a stud below her lower lip. She is wearing a royal blue poloshirt.

"I have days I struggle but I keep fighting".

Sarah Campbell is Assistant House Manger at Lendrick Muir and has been part of the team for 8 years. In her words she "couldn't find a better company to work for".

Sarah would be the first to say that running does not come naturally for her. She has hypermobility syndrome, flat feet, fibromyalgia, calcium tendonitis & impingement syndrome in both shoulders, reynaulds and tendon damage in her right hand. Despite all her health issues she ran her first half marathon in 2022.

This year she completed the Alloa Half Marathon in March and is signed up for the Barry Buddon Half Marathon on 28th April and the Antrum Coast Half Marathon on August 25th.

Fundraising for Families

Sarah has set a target of raising £1,500 and has been greatly encouraged by the donations that she's received so far.

From Sarah...

"I am hoping to raise money so that we can allow some children and young people whose families are really struggling with cash to have a holiday. It will also let the parent's/guardians have some breathing space especially with cash flow. Any donation no matter how small will help and be gratefully appreciated".
