Lendrick Muir has a new Centre Director
13 March 2019Reflecting on 2018

2018, a busy year!
Reflecting on 2018, what a year it has been! Over 10,000 people have walked through the doors of Lendrick Muir. The catering team have prepared just under 40,000 meals for guests. We have hosted 60 schools on various visits throughout the year. Additionally, various different churches, youth groups, SU weekends and SU holidays made Lendrick Muir a very busy place! Though it has been a busy a year the staff are delighted to see so many people using the centre. It is fantastic seeing the lives of children and young people genuinely changed! Reflecting on 2018, a definite highlight was seeing 77 teenagers make the decision to follow Jesus at Soul Survivor.
Behind the scenes
Many of the team have worked hard behind the scenes to work towards becoming the first centre in Scotland to receive the AHOEC GOLD AWARD. The assessor chose the perfect time to visit, during Soul Survivor!
We have been also working on upgrading the low ropes, landscaping the area in front of the main building and introducing automated locks on the doors. We even replaced the roof on one of the staff houses! The work is still continuing over the winter as we refurbish more bathrooms, replacing two in Ochil and the boys toilets in the atrium.
We have also put children and youth bibles in every room!
Goodbyes
Our reflecting on 2018 also includes some sad goodbyes to members of staff. Michael Cook moved on from his role as Centre Director in the summer. We are excited to see him in his new valuable role with COMMUNITY RESOURCES NETWORK SCOTLAND, a charity seeking to dramatically reduce the amount of waste being produced in Scotland. The team also said a partial goodbye to Sylvia and Colin Campbell as they have moved to Darvel to head up the new SU Scotland centre, GOWANBANK, in Ayrshire. We are delighted to see them continue to grow the ministry of SU Scotland using their experience from Lendrick Muir.
Our twentieth year
2019 is an exciting year for Lendrick Muir as it marks our 20th anniversary of opening as an SU centre. We look forward to commemorating this with an open day fundraising event. It will be an opportunity to come and celebrate with us this special year.
Thank you
We would like to say ‘thank you’ for all the amazing support we receive from so many people. This is vital in making Lendrick Muir the amazing place that it is. We would appreciate your prayers that 2019 would be our best year yet. Seeing more people coming through our doors and most importantly seeing more children and young people having the opportunity to experience God’s love for them.
