Lendrick Muir’s December Update

Hello everyone, I thought it would be good to send you a quick update before Christmas.

Firstly, I wanted to update you and thank you for your support as we are going through these very difficult times. I am absolutely overwhelmed with your generosity both seen through our centres appeal launched in November and support through messages and prayers for the team and ministry.

An update on recent opportunities

Not surprisingly there have been many disappointments and implied restrictions.  We have managed to seize some opportunities to welcome smaller groups of young people on Activities Days and Day Camps. These events happened throughout the Autumn season and these types of events will continue into the new year. There are a number of SU activity day camps planned for 2021. If you know any young people interested in a visit to Lendrick Muir keep an eye on the SU Holidays website or  you could organise your own. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact.

Over the winter months we will be investing in people providing training, re-training some staff to work in different roles, investing in facilities: renovating the laundry building, upgrading activities and carrying out a lot of painting and decorating.

An update on staff

Sadly, we have had to reduce our staff complement to face the reality of the situation we are in. By the end of March we will have lost 13 people (either from fixed term contracts that we are not able to extend or the 6 roles which we are unable to replace at this time). This is a big blow to the team and there is a lot of sadness among us dealing with that.

Our vision remains

However, our vision remains, we still want to see children and young people exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

We are adapting all the time to the new ways to be able to work with the next generation. Even without residentials at the moment there are a lot of plans to work with young people in Scotland. We expect to see many children and young people coming through our doors. We hope that residentials will return at some point in 2021 and we want to be ready for it!

Please continue to pray for us, your prayers matter, our good Father is carrying us through this.

We hope that you are going to have a very blessed Christmas, may the Lord bless you abundantly.

Marek (on behalf of Lendrick Muir Team)
